Sprint has learned that a feature setting on certain Samsung and Motorola phones may affect your ability to dial some abbreviated dialing codes such as 211, 311, 511, 711 and 811.
NOTE: 911 (Emergency Services) and 411 (Directory Assistance) are not affected by this issue and can be dialed without taking the steps outlined below. In addition, 711 (Telecommunications Relay Service) is not affected on the Motorola ic502 or ic402 phones.
Below is information on how to resolve this issue so that you may dial these important abbreviated dialing codes on your Sprint or Nextel phone.
Abbreviated dialing codes or N11 codes provide access to information as follows:
Phones that give a busy signal, silence when connected or an audible network response when dialing an abbreviated dialing code are NOT necessarily affected by this issue.

A software maintenance release is available for the Samsung MM-A900 that resolves the N11 dialing issue. To obtain this maintenance release, please take your phone to your local Sprint store.
If you have a different Samsung phone model or chose not to update your MM-A900 software, please follow these steps to dial N11:

After an abbreviated dialing code has been added to your Contacts list, you should be able to dial the code as you would any number.

NOTE: Sprint encourages you to update your phone software periodically. If you receive a text message from Sprint prompting you to accept a software update, please accept it. If you have already updated the software, the phone will inform you that you have the latest software version. Otherwise, the phone will notify you that the update is available. Follow the prompts to install the update.
